Biography

Timothy Marlowe, PhD, received his BS in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and, then, subsequently obtained his PhD in Molecular Pharmacology and Cancer Therapeutics at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Dr. Marlowe is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the UA College of Pharmacy and College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Dr. Marlowe's previous work focused on the discovery of small molecule kinase inhibitors, as well as the identification of novel protein-protein interactions. He has a strong background in pharmacology and drug discovery, with major expertise in structure-based drug design, computational drug discovery, and a wide variety of biophysical/biochemical assays.

Dr. Marlowe directs an academic drug discovery laboratory at the University of Arizona, where the main focus is the discovery of novel therapeutics that target Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) and other drug targets. His current research utilizes Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and X-ray Crystallography techniques for Fragment-based Drug Discovery (FBDD). Dr. Marlowe also works on the synthesis and characterization of peptide-based therapeutics.

Dr. Marlowe is the Director of the Molecular Discovery Core at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, where he helps facilitate the identification of new therapeutics. Dr. Marlowe is also Chief Scientific Officer of the UA spin-off company FAKnostics, LLC.
