Kevin S. Hirsch, MD

Kevin Hirsch, MD, is the clinical chair of the Department of Radiology at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix and Banner – University Medical Group. He is the interim chair of the Department of Radiology at University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Dr. Hirsch has a long history of leadership and has developed numerous Banner – University/Banner Health programs. These include serving as the founding co-chair of the Medical Imaging Clinical Consensus Group, as well as its subsequent physician executive; being a founding member of the Pulmonary Embolus Response Team; helping to develop the clinical practice guidelines for peripheral and pulmonary thrombolysis; founding the NeuroInterventional Stroke Program; and much more.

Dr. Hirsch is an empathetic, patient-centered physician specializing in interventional radiology. His areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: interventional oncology with a focus on liver tumor treatment; complex deep venous thromboembolic disease (pulmonary emboli, extensive DVT, etc.); hepatobiliary disease and liver transplant interventions; uterine fibroids; complex IVC filter removal; placenta accreta embolization; and Ischemic stroke intervention. Dr. Hirsch has published numerous articles throughout his career; and he also served as the principle investigator for Paracentesis and Laboratory Evaluation/Correction: A Retrospective and Prospective Study to Evaluate the Risk of Performing Paracenteses with and without Laboratory Evaluation/Correction of Coagulopathies (JVIR, 2018).

A native of California, Dr. Hirsch attended UCLA as an undergraduate. He received his medical degree from the USC Keck School of Medicine. He completed his radiology residency and fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. He is board-certified in diagnostic and interventional radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in interventional radiology.
