Biography

Dr. Alishahi is a board-certified gastroenterologist committed to providing high-quality care to patients, coupled with a dedicated role as an academic clinician-educator. She joined the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition at UT Health San Antonio soon after completing her GI Fellowship. In 2017, seeking closer proximity to family, she transitioned to the Phoenix VA, where she serves the veteran population. Dr. Alishahi takes pride in addressing all facets of GI diseases, finding particular fulfillment in caring for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (which includes Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis). As an appointed member of the GI VA National Gastroenterology Faculty Advisory Sub-Committee, Dr. Alishahi also serves as the co-director of the National IBD Pharmacy Subcommittee. Additionally, she held the position of co-director for the SCAN-ECHO VA IBD National Conference. Dr. Alishahi's past involvements in GI societies include roles in the ACG Women's Committee and ACG Minority Affairs and Cultural Diversity Committee. In July 2020, Dr. Alishahi assumed the role of Program Director for the UACOM-P GI Fellowship Program. Her goal is to establish a supportive environment conducive to mentoring future gastroenterologists. Her commitment extends to various aspects of Graduate Medical Education (GME) and the Department of Medicine. She currently serves as a member of the Faculty Appointments, Promotions, and Tenure Committee, Graduate Medical Education Committee, and the GME Program Milestones Group.
